Lesson Aim: Scientists will be able to explain the different parts of the ear.
What Scientists Learned: Scientists learned about the different parts of the ear.
Ear - Organ for hearing
Pinna (Outer Ear) - Outside part of the ear
Middle Ear - The chamber between the eardrum and cochlea containing 3 tiny bones (hammer, anvil and stirrup)
Inner Ear - Inside part of the ear that sends information to the brain. It contains the cochlear, semicircular canals and vestibular sacs
Eardrum - A thin membrane that vibrates when sounds reaches it
Vibrate - to move back and forth quickly
Ear Canal - a tube running from the outer ear to the middle ear
