Version management means using copies of old versions of your world and GameCode files and keeping track of them. I explain one good way to do this here.
When you end for the day or complete a part of the world or program, you stop and make a copy.
Make a copy when you start a new day or complete a part of the program
Begin by selecting the world and clicking on Manage.
Click on Copy
Click on Settings and rename the wrold.
I rename my world so that it has where I am (part four of GameCode), put the date (2025 is the year, 11 is the month, and 09 is the day). and append (or add) a letter, (A for first one of the day, B for the next, etc.). I do this when I finish a particular building, get something working, or finish part of the MakeCode.
In a Google Spreadsheet put in version information
I put version info into a Goodle Spreadsheet.
1) Date: The date of the last update
2) Program Name. I use one spreadsheet for all my versions.
3) Version. I use a date (YYYYMMDD) format with a letter after it. YYYY means 4 digits for the year, MM means 2 digits for the month and DD means 2 digits for the day. Then I add a A for the first on of this program, B for the second, etc.
4) I export my worlds and put them in Google Drive in a directory.
5) I put a link to the MakeCode file every time. MakeCode doesn't do a good job of keeping up with the latest changes, so I make a new link and a put it in.
Get a link to MakeCode
Click on the share icon in MakeCode in the upper right of the window.
Fix Title and and click Share Project
I fix the title if I need to, then I click Share Project. I put the link in the spreadsheet.
