Alaap, the Indian Music Society of Indraprastha College for Women, University of Delhi originated in the year 2005. Since its inception, the society has aimed to provide the best of core classical music and has tremendously flourished over the years. The society got its name from Vusat Iqbal Khan, the daughter of the Khalifa of the Delhi Gharana, Ustaad Iqbal Ahmed Khan.
There have been fruitful and much awaited workshops for the students under the guidance of brilliant music maestros like Ustaad Iqbal Ahmed Khan and Mr Sudhanshu Sharma. The society has been actively participating in the classical music events. performs at various in-house events like Independence Day Celebration, Gandhi Jayanti Celebration, Farewell, Annual College fest etc. It also
The team of Alaap believes in perseverance, experimentation, team work and undertakes rigorous skill-development of its members. The society has won various inter-college group and solo singing competitions. With consistent hard work and determination, we wish to bring more laurels to the society as well as the college and keep the embers of our love for classical music alive throughout our lives.
