English Editorial Society
Oghma (The English Editorial Society) has, since its inception in 1937, contributed enthusiastically to nurturing the talent for the written word in English among the students of Indraprastha College. Over the years, Oghma has come a long way by transforming itself from an open society of 200 members to a committed and closed team of 48 passionate editors who wish to spread the love for all things creative as
well as literary. The Society plays an active role in the creation of the annual college magazine "Aaroh", and has successfully released three editions of the Society’s Newsletter – “Epiphany”, since 2019. In addition, Oghma organizes various innovative events – especially relating to creative composition in the English language – to harness student skills across disciplines in the college. The English Editorial Society
comprises five internal committees: Editorial Team, Book/Movie Review Team, Translation Team, Press Report Team and Events Team. The Society has also initiated Oghmic sessions, an open mic platform for the members to express their proficiency in spoken word poetry and writing. We have also collaborated with other Union Societies to broaden our reach and create unique sites tapping and showcasing student talent both within and from outside the college. The Society has also garnered considerable attention through social media by regularly posting engaging write-ups on Instagram and Facebook and on our own blog page, Sojourn. Engaging with the evolution of the written word in the age of technology has become an important focus for the activity and roadmap of the Society. Thus, Oghma continues to explore different unique avenues and fora as part of its growth and journey into the 21st century.
