What is the Erasmus intended to promote?
Erasmus is a project directed by the European Union, they have organized everything during the program and it was totally free for us because it’s meant to be a cultural experience that everyone should be able to have.
They offer this experience to a lot of schools with the goal of spreading cultural knowledge and experiences between different countries and meeting new people with different habits than us, and having to talk in english in order to communicate with each other.
In our case, each catalan student had a French one, and they would stay at our homes for a week, including meals, activities and sleeping.
THREE DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES FROM CATALAN STUDENTS: A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING!!
VANESSA: I don't have much to say about my experience with French students because I didn't interact first-hand like my other classmates. In any case, I made some connections with French students, because my hosting friends need to be by my side, so interaction with French students was necessary. Also, it was incredible to interact with them, due to the change in culture, customs, ideologies... It is a truly enriching experience, and I recommend it to anyone who is thinking about doing an Erasmus.
JÚLIA: This experience has been one of a kind, I think we are all really fortunate of being able to participate in Erasmus. These few days we have been doing a lot of things, and we have also met a lot of new people and leart about their cultures, wich are really different than ours.
From my personal experience, it was really nice. I learnt so much about French culture and also made a good friendship with the girl who stayed with me. Even though we weren't able to comunicate in our native languages, we understood eachother perfectly, and that's what it's all about.
The last day of Erasmus, we could make a letter for our french student match, and it was a really emotional and incredible moment. All the french students loved it so much, and based on what some of them have told me, they have had an amazing time here and they are looking forward to have us in France in april. And we are also really exited for it!
JANA, WITH CLAUDIA AND ESTELLE :
My Erasmus experience has been incredible, I had never hosted anyone at home in this way and it has been very enriching, as I have learned many things. My partners were very nice, we had our difficulties but always with positivity and looking for the solution to everything. We had very funny moments like when we started playing karaoke and shouted and danced a lot. Living together has been a challenge that we have all been able to overcome, we have learned a lot from each other the others and personally I want to see them again and continue to keep in touch for a long time. I feel very happy to have been able to open my home to live this experience and also to have been able to live it with my colleagues listen to those who have also lived a lot and together we have succeeded.
SOME ANECDOTES...
Little accident playing basketball...:
On the first day, Axel and I (Mario) decided to go play basketball for a while at the Sant Pere court, next to the town hall. Both he and I are big sports fans, and the idea was to have some interaction with each other to get to know each other a little better. When we decided to leave though, my mate Axel had the great idea to make a dunk, because all basketball players like to make dunks, we all like to hang ourselves from baskets. So when he touched the basket, which was already damaged and getting worse and worse, the basket gave way with his weight and ended up on his hands. This all happened the very afternoon we arrived, and when we got home we just laughed about everything that had happened.
This is the new one!!!
Ball rescue mission:
One experience that we all agree was the highlight for a while was when my friends and I befriended a group of exchange students and decided to play some volleyball games. The place that seemed ideal for us to do this was on the volleyball courts located in Llinars, more specifically in the beach volleyball area which is covered by a fence that can be accessed with a code that the administrators send by mail. At the time we were there, the code hadn't arrived, so we started playing on one of the courts next. After playing for a while, Axel came up with another great idea for a serve called skyball, which involves throwing the ball super high. Unfortunately, the ball fell into the field where we couldn't get in.
After many attempts to open the door, waiting for the code, and not being able to do anything remotely legal because there were security cameras. Between us, we passed through the fence a rake that was on the other side of the track. So we managed to get the ball over the fence and pass it between us, to get it off the ground. Finally, I got on Oriol's shoulders and we threw the ball over the fence to try and get it back. But we finally got it! Surely, since there were cameras, we must have brought a smile to whoever saw that video.
Special letters:
The story is about a Catalan student and a French student. We will keep the names anonymous, for privacy reasons. It all started on a day when, by chance, the two students met at a dinner, at the Sui bar-restaurant. So, the Catalan student came up to try to start talking to her. Despite everything, dinner was quite fun but it wasn't until the next day that they started talking. The two began to get to know each other a little, using the breaks in the workshop days to exchange a few words. And on the last day, although they had not talked much, one of the two decided to take the opportunity to write her a short letter and deliver it. Once the letter was made, the interaction was complicated due to his shyness but despite that, before the exchange students left, he delivered the letter!! Finally, enough courage was gathered for him to be able to "confess his inner feelings".

The concert:
On Saturday we shared with our French friends, Oriol, Marc and Mario we got together to do a concert that we had planned with our music school, and since the three of us play together, we decided that the exchange students came with us. It was curious that some of the students played some traditional songs from Catalonia, songs that the French students had never heard, and they liked them. Finally, we played three songs, and with jokes and our performance, we all really enjoyed that afternoon all together.
