Description: As the class representant, I suggested the idea of making a Secret Santa between the students of our class to reinforce the bonds created during this first term of our lives. I had to prepare a present to my classmate Ferran and I decided to give him a mug with a hand-made bracelet because I wanted to include something made by me.Â
Planning/previous thoughts: I wanted to encourage the improvement of relationships among classmates after our first term together. I thought this activity could bring a positive atmosphere to the class. Once the idea was approved, we set a budget of six euros, to make it affordable to everyone, and drew names. I got Ferran as my Secret Santa recipient, and I wanted to make a personal gift.
Activity's valoration: I think that seeing everyone excited about both giving and receiving gifts created a great mood in class. When the day arrived, we exchanged the presents during a small class celebration with our tutor during the last day of class before the Christmas holidays. It was a cool and funny moment.
Ferran appreciated the bracelet and the effort behind it and I felt happy and proud. It was also nice to see the creativity of the other classmates.
Final reflection: This activity showed me how a simple idea impact on group dynamics. Organizing it helped me improve my leadership skills and it also made me think how small and cheap activities can have a big impact.
I learned that giving can be very fulfilling and I hope it becomes a class tradition for future IB classes.
EVIDENCE
This picture shows me painting the box I was going to use for the present. I ensured to use a recycled box to avoid overconsumption.
