Description: Each year, to say goodbye to the IB students that leave us and are graduating, we prepare a little party for them. We had presentators, speeches and musical actuations. One of them was mine. I played the flute by heart.
Planning/previous thoughts: I wanted to contribute something personal and emotional to the ceremony. Even though I felt a bit nervous about playing in front of everyone, I knew it would be a special way to connect with the audience and show my appreciation for the older students. I decided to play a song that reminded us of all the time we spent together.
Activity's valoration: The atmosphere felt very familiar and close. When it was my turn, I walked up and played the flute without sheet music, focusing fully on the sound and the moment. I felt proud of myself for managing the nerves and sharing something meaningful with the school. It was rewarding to see people’s positive reactions, especially from the students who were leaving.Â
Final reflection: This experience reminded me how music can bring people together. Preparing the piece and playing it from memory helped me work on focus, expression, and emotional connection. It also showed me that sharing a personal talent can have a real impact, even if it’s just a small part of a larger event. I felt grateful to be part of something so meaningful and I hope that, in the future, someone else will do the same for me when it’s my turn to graduate.
