📌 Cala Vidre (Thursday morning) | 📌 L'Hospitalet de l'Infant (Thursday afternoon and Friday morning)
Description: Our high school (Biology department and CAS coordinator) organised a trip for the IB class to L'Ametlla de Mar and l'Hospitalet de l'Infant. A bus picked us up from our high school and brought us to Cala Vidre to go scuba diving. There, the instructors explained us about the things we may see and all the tools and tips we needed for the activity. We did the activity in 2 groups of 10 (while a group was exploring the sea, the other was having fun in the coast). Then, the bus picked us up again and brought us to our rooms.
After leaving everything in our rooms, we went downstairs to do a gimcana Ã’nia, Aina and Carlota organised for us. We explored various places, and they were quite interesting (not gonna lie, I was exhausted after that). Then, we went to our youth hostel, I had a shower, we went down to have dinner, we went to the beach before going to sleep, and then we went to our rooms to do so.
On Friday morning, our EE coordinator Adelaida explained us a grasp about the Extended Essay. Then, I guided the group to the train station of L'Hospitalet de l'Infant, and we went back home by train (all people from Reus had to transfer in Vila-seca). We got to the station quite before the estimated arrival time (ETA) and we were able to pick a train 20 minutes before, which meant that we arrived home 20 minutes before. I also helped my friend Héctor to get to the bus station to pick his bus to his village.Â
Planning/previous thoughts: Before doing the activity, I was very excited and scared to do scuba diving because I had an ear surgery when I was 3.
To go from L'Hospitalet de l'Infant to Reus or other people's respectives villages, I was volunteering to check all the public transport schedules (I did a lot before the day of the trip).
Before going to the trip, I had to check that I had brought all the supplies in my bag for these two days. To clarify, I prepared a to-do list with everything I needed in my beach bag and my sleep bag. I had got everything ready to go! Â
Activity's valouration: In my opinion, this activity was amazing: I could see lots of marine species at 4 meters of depth. I was also surrounded by my classmates and the biology teacher, which made everything even better. Â
Final reflection: Even though I was a bit scared to do the activity, I was really happy to do so. I discovered lots of species while being in good company. I also learned about the main things of L'Hospitalet de l'Infant thanks to the gimcana organised by Carlota, Ã’nia and Aina. With that, I had also learnt important skills to work in group and improving my physical condition at the same time.
