Description: For Saint George's Day, we had to do some workshops. I did the workshop with Sergi, one of my classmates, about superficial tension in liquids to show it to the students in lower grades. Moreover, we had prizes for the writing and photography contests. I won in the German and Math contest.
Planning/previous thoughts: I chose to prepare a science workshop with my classmate Sergi. We decided to explain the concept of surface tension in liquids to students from lower grades. I was excited to take part in something that mixed science communication with hands-on learning and we had to prepare the experiment. I did also prepare my contest entrance for Catalan, German and Math.
Activity's valoration: The workshop with Sergi went well. We explained surface tension through simple experiments, like using soap and water, to make it fun and understandable for younger students. It was rewarding to see how interested they were. It also helped me develop my public speaking and explanation skills.
During the awards ceremony, I was really proud to find out I had won in both the German and Math contests. It was surprising and encouraging to see my work appreciated in these subjects.
Final reflection: Saint George’s Day, apart from being my saint's day, was a great example of how learning can take many shapes. Preparing the science workshop helped me practice teamwork and communication, while the contests pushed me to express myself in academic and artistic ways. Winning the prizes gave me extra motivation, but what I value most is having taken part in such a collaborative and positive school event.
