WHOLE SCHOOL
Dear IICS Community,
In appreciation of the importance of family togetherness during the upcoming Bayram, we have decided to extend the holiday break for our school community. Therefore, there will be no school for students on Thursday, April 3rd, and Friday, April 4th, and for faculty and staff on Wednesday, April 2nd, Thursday, April 3rd, and Friday, April 4th, in line with the extension granted to public workers across the country. This decision reflects our commitment to fostering personal well-being and strengthening the bonds within our community.
We recognize that this adjustment differs from our original schedule, and we sincerely appreciate your flexibility and understanding. Our hope is that this extended break provides everyone with a well-earned opportunity to rest, recharge, and cherish time with loved ones.
Warm regards,
Nicolaas Mostert,
Head of School

IICS Community Book Swap
Dear students, teachers, and parents,
Please begin to gather your books for the PTA’s Annual Spring Book Swap – a beloved community event to encourage our children’s love of reading!
How does it work?
Beginning on Monday, April 7 at both the Marmara and Hisar Campus parents or children can bring in their gently-used/“old” books to their homerooms. For each book donated, students will receive a token/voucher (one book = one voucher) which they will use to swap for a “new” book during their respective campus’s Book Swap Day. Donations will be accepted until April 21 at Marmara Campus and April 25 at Hisar Campus.
We hope this event allows you to clean out your library this spring and receive some new to your children books to enjoy! For more information, please click here.
Honoring Chef Gökhan Sevindik: A Beloved School Hero
We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Chef Gökhan Sevindik, a cherished member of Istanbul International Community School (IICS) from 2019 to 2024. Though he had left the school before his passing earlier this year, his warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit left a lasting impact. His light in the world will be dearly missed.
For five years, he was more than a chef—he was a friend, mentor, and a bright presence who filled our halls with laughter and kindness. His meals nourished both bodies and hearts, making IICS feel like home for many.
His passing has shocked and deeply affected us all, especially his beloved wife, Merve Sevindik, and their two young children, Poyraz (10) and Zümra (8). As a community, we want to honor his legacy and support his family through this heartbreaking time.
How You Can Help
We are raising funds to:
💙 Ease the financial burden on his family.
💙 Support Merve, Poyraz, and Zümra.
💙 Show our gratitude for his years of love and dedication.
📍 Donation boxes are available at the Marmara & Hisar Campus reception.
Any contribution, big or small, is a tribute to the impact he made. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping his family in your thoughts.
Let’s come together as a community, just as he always did for us. Thank you for your kindness and support.
With love and gratitude,
IICS PTA Charity
