Message from the Head of School
Dear IICS Community,
It is with great sadness that I write to address the recent tragic event at the ski resort in Kartalkaya, Bolu. Our hearts go out to the families of those who lost their lives, and we extend our deepest condolences during this difficult time. We also wish a speedy recovery to all those who were injured in this devastating incident, particularly during the Turkish schools' half term.
In light of this event, I would like to reassure you that at IICS, we take safety very seriously. We have implemented comprehensive fire precautions and conduct fire drills each semester to ensure that our community is prepared for emergencies. Additionally, our emergency plans are regularly reviewed and updated each school year to reflect best practices and ensure the safety of our students and staff.

News from the Athletics & Activities Department
Dear IICS,
We would like to remind you that this weekend our Knowledge Bowl team is competing in Tirana and our swimmer in Budapest in their respective CEESA competitions.
Next week we are sending our athletes to represent IICS in the CEESA Math Competition, hosted by American International School of Bucharest. Also our MS Boys and Girls Basketball Teams will travel to Ankara to compete in the TISL Basketball Tournament, hosted by OASIS School.
Wish our teams safe travels and best of luck!

Istanbul Modern & Galata Port Tour
Dear Families,
We would like to invite you to explore Istanbul Modern, Türkiye’s first museum of modern and contemporary art. Entrance is free on Thursdays :) For lunch, we will savor Turkish style street food: "Fish Wrap", a modern interpretation of "Balık-Ekmek" ("Fish-Bread"), the traditional street food from Karaköy.
Afterwards we'll enjoy our Turkish coffee at Galataport Store and Coffee Museum of Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi, the most famous traditional Turkish coffee brand.
We'll finish with a walk along the Bosphorus in Galataport, the cruise port of Istanbul - also home to many cafes, restaurants and shops.
