WHOLE SCHOOL
The Importance of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA): The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) plays a vital role in fostering a strong partnership between parents, teachers, and the school community. By engaging parents in the educational process and encouraging open communication, the PTA helps to create a supportive environment that enhances student learning and well-being. Involvement in the PTA enables parents to contribute their ideas and resources, advocate for school improvements, and participate in enriching activities that benefit all students.
At IICS, we recognize the significance of active parental involvement and invite you to join our PTA and Booster Club. Both organizations are essential in promoting a positive school culture and supporting our educational programs.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA): The PTA is focused on fostering collaboration between parents and educators. Members participate in meetings, organize events, and advocate for educational initiatives that benefit our students. Tasks may include fundraising, coordinating volunteer efforts, and organizing educational programs that enhance the school experience.
Booster Club: The PTA Booster Club is a dedicated group of parent volunteers committed to supporting our home tournaments and activities at IICS. Our primary mission is to warmly welcome the sports teams participating in tournaments hosted at IICS, foster an encouraging atmosphere for our athletes, and raise funds by selling food and beverages to both participants and spectators.
We are currently seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join our PTA and Booster Club. Your involvement can make a significant difference in our school community.

We are delighted to announce that Istanbul International Community School has extended its cooperation with the prestigious Real Madrid football club for another season. As a result, we are pleased to offer our students the opportunity to participate in the Real Madrid Foundation Football program for the upcoming 2024 - 2025 season.
Your child will be able to join them for 2 weeks free of charge (7th of September until 15th of September) and also will have to possibility to join the whole program under a discounted price.
All training sessions will be conducted in English and lead by The Real Madrid football director Rafael Fernández (UEFA PRO Licensed coach) and Jesus Almansa (UEFA A Licensed coach)
We believe in the tremendous value that this partnership brings to our school community, as it allows our students to engage in a comprehensive football program that combines technical excellence, character development, and the core values upheld by Real Madrid. By joining this program, our students also will have the chance to join international tournaments organized by Real Madrid.

SECONDARY SCHOOL
Dear Secondary Community,
As we come to the end of our first full week together we are delighted with the start that everyone has made.
This week we have seen the start of our grade 6 to 10 activity period. It was fabulous to see our students and faculty engaged in a huge variety of activities and we look forward to watching them grow their hobbies, interests and skills in areas that go beyond the classroom.
Our first season of competitive sports and activities has also started after school and after the huge success that all of our teams enjoyed last year there was definitely a lot of excitement about this year. Thank you in advance to all of our coaches and to all of the students that are currently trying out for our teams. Please remember that if you are outside you will need a water bottle and you may need sunscreen also. It is important that you inform your coaches ahead of time if you will be absent.
We also saw the opening auditions for this year's school production. This is always an event that builds community and our new performing arts team has thoroughly enjoyed getting to know so many of our students through the auditions process.
There will be many more updates on each of these items on our social media accounts so please follow IICS on our facebook, instagram, X (formerly twitter) accounts. You can find links to our accounts on the bottom of our school website.
A reminder that next week on Thursday 12th September we will be hosting our Back to school day where you will be able to come and meet your child's advisory teacher, tour the secondary school and join a number of introductory presentations.
Please see the schedule below:
8.15am to 11.40am - Students arrive and go to regular scheduled classes
11.30am to 12pm - Parents arrive - Students will meet their parents and take them to each of the subject neighborhoods. You will explore the subject displays and informally meet subject teachers (note that this is not a subject specific parent meeting and if you wish to discuss a matter with your child's subject teacher a different meeting time can be arranged)
11.30am to 3pm - Coffee and snack available in the cafe all afternoon
Secondary Lunch will run from 12.50 to 2pm - Please make time to have lunch with your child in the cafeteria
12pm to 3.15pm - Advisory connection meetings and Secondary Presentations - Parents will attend a 12 minute slot with their child’s advisory teacher (they will sign up for their slot through school buddy). During this time there will also be short introductory presentations (15 minutes each)
Wishing you a relaxing weekend and we look forward to meeting you on campus next Thursday. As always, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions.
Kind regards,
Mr. Kane and Mr. Kipmen
