En un debate MUN el lenguaje debe ser muy formal. Desafortunadamente, la lengua inglesa tiene algunas cuestiones del habla formal que a nosotros nos pueden parecer extrañas, ya que no existen en la lengua castellana. Aquí van algunas de ellas.

Pautas para dirigirse al comité

  • NUNCA usar la primera persona del singular para referirse a uno mismo. No hablas en tu nombre, sino en el de un país.

  • Para referirse a uno mismo usar la primera persona del plural o decir «the delegate/ delegation of...»

  • NUNCA usar la segunda persona para dirigirse a otro delegado o al Presidente del comité, se considera una falta de respeto.

  • Para referirse a otro delegado hay que usar la tercera persona del singular o decir «the delegate /delegation of...»; «dear/fellow delegate/colleague»; y para dirigirse al Chair se puede decir: « Honourable/ distinguished Chair».

Para dirigirse al Comité o a otro delegado

  • Honourable Chair, distinguished delegates, dear guests…

  • Would it be possible for the committee…?

  • Should we discuss this issue more thoroughly?

  • Does the delegate agree on…?

  • Does the delegate think that…?

  • Does the delegate of … believe that…?

  • Should not the delegate be aware of …?

  • Should we discuss this issue further on in a succeeding moderated caucus?

  • Would it be possible for the delegate to clarify/elaborate on this in their next speech?
