Expanding on the definition of synchronous online learning. Specifying the advantages and disadvantages of synchronous online learning with further understanding of the use of interaction, collaboration, etc.
Briefly mention synchronous learning and then go into depth on asynchronous learning. Definition, the different tools, the advantages and disadvantages, and the roles of instructors and learners. This video will address the such as accessibility and learner engagement.
Alignment
The presentation will analyze the technology to see if it aligns with distance learning principles. It covers examples of some of the best practices in distance learning. It shows how interaction, learner engagement and collaboration in distance learning are applied to synchronous and asynchronous collaboration tools. It also addressed some of the challenges faced in online education.
Case Studies
The research addresses the way that the Indian educational institution and the students themselves benefited and struggled with distance education. The research showed that combining both online learning tools leads to a balanced education.
A learning academy was developed to assist in the expansion of the program with the incorporation of online learning tools. The program was designed to be a blended course, so it can be face-to-face or online and the educational experience won't be affected. The case study showed that learners in the distance classes and face-to-face classes had similar experiences.

The research aims to find alternative methods to develop online coursework in synchronous and asynchronous online learning formats. The research showed that combining synchronous and asynchronous online learning tools to assist in the PPG Daljab program is the most effective way to proceed in the case study.

Future Possibilities
Further expansion and incorporation of online learning in a student's curriculum. Online learning is becoming more common on a university level. I can see a future of further incorporating synchronous/asynchronous learning at primary, secondary and high school levels. Online collaboration tools became more common in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. I think it will be incorporated into everyday education and not solely during emergencies.
AI Future Possibilities
Asynchronous Online Learning Tools
AI will continue to evolve in the educational structure. Asynchronous online collaboration tools are and will remain utilized within AI. AI is currently incorporated in course content creation and will continue over time. One instance is using AI to inspire different subjects for discussion posts or structuring the question in a way that leads to more in-depth conversations within this format. Other examples of incorporation of AI such as the creation of online quizzes and videos.
Synchronous Online Learning Tools
AI assists in the further development of synchronous online collaboration tools. One instance is the improvement of video and audio quality. AI can enhance speech and reduce background noises from the speaker so videos can be more intelligible for the learners. Other examples of incorporation of AI such as summarizing material, different displays, and AI assistance.

About the Developer
Sara Elkhatib is a master's student at Iowa State University, majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication. Her research focuses on media coverage of the 2023 Turkish Earthquake.
Within the education field, Sara is most interested in understanding the way different students learn and retain information. Specifically, the way different types of learners adapt to an online education setting with the use of different tools such as synchronous and asynchronous collaboration tools
