Diwrnod hanesyddol i ni yn Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi!
Heddiw, gwnaethom symud yn swyddogol i fod yn ysgol ‘ddi‑ffôn symudol’, ac hoffwn ddiolch yn fawr iawn i’n holl staff a disgyblion am eu cefnogaeth anhygoel drwy gydol y dydd. Diolch hefyd i deuluoedd am eu cefnogaeth yn ystod y cyfnod ymgynghori, i’r Llywodraethwyr ac i’r Awdurdod Lleol am eu cefnogaeth a’u cefnogaeth barhaus, ac anrhydedd arbennig i’n holl staff gweinyddol sydd wedi gweithio’n ddiflino i weithredu’r system mor gyflym ac mor effeithlon.
Rwy’n gyffrous iawn i weld effaith y newid hwn—ac rydym eisoes wedi sylwi ar wahaniaeth yn y coridorau, yn ystod gwersi ac amser egwyl ac amser cinio, gyda disgyblion yn llawer mwy sgwrsus ac yn cymryd rhan mewn mwy o chwaraeon a gemau yn ystod amser rhydd. Mae eich cefnogaeth yn golygu cymaint, ac mae’r effaith bosibl ar les, iechyd meddwl, ac o ganlyniad ar gyrhaeddiad a chynnydd, yn enfawr.
Byddwn yn parhau i fonitro’r polisi a’r systemau ac yn rhoi gwybod i chi os bydd angen addasu unrhyw elfen, ond hoffwn fynegi fy niolch diffuant i bawb am eu cefnogaeth. Nid oes gennyf unrhyw amheuaeth y bydd canllawiau cenedlaethol yn cael eu rhyddhau cyn bo hir, ac rwy’n falch iawn ein bod ni ar flaen y gad ac yn rhagweithiol.
Ar nodyn gwahanol, rwy’n edrych ymlaen at groesawu teuluoedd disgyblion Blwyddyn 9 i’r ysgol ddydd Mercher nesaf ar gyfer y Noson Agored Dewisiadau – cyfle pwysig i drafod pa bynciau fyddai orau ar gyfer TGAU ac yna ymlaen.
A historic day for us at Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi!
Today marks our official move to becoming a mobile‑phone‑free school, and I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our staff and pupils for their incredible support throughout the day. I would also like to thank families for their engagement during the consultation period, our Governors and the Local Authority for their backing and support, and a huge shout‑out to our Administrative Staff, who have worked tirelessly to implement the system so quickly and efficiently.
I am genuinely excited to see the impact of this change—and we have already noticed differences in corridors, during lessons, and at break and lunchtime, with pupils far more talkative and engaging in more games and activities during their free time. Your support means so much, and the potential positive impact on wellbeing, mental health, and ultimately attainment and progress, is significant.
We will continue to monitor the policy and systems and keep you informed if any adjustments are needed, but I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone for their support. I have no doubt that national guidance will soon follow, and I am proud that we are ahead of the curve and taking proactive steps.
On a different note, I look forward to welcoming families of Year 9 pupils to school next Wednesday for our Options Open Evening—an important opportunity to discuss which subjects will be the best fit for GCSE and beyond.
Diolch i bawb sydd wedi cyfrannu at ein Gweledigaeth newydd: yn ddisgyblion, staff, rhieni a gwarcheidwaid, Llywodraethwyr ac aelodau o gymuned ac ardal Aberteifi a’r cyffiniau. Mi fydd y Weledigaeth yn lliwio ein datblygiadau a chynnydd dros y misoedd a blynyddoedd nesaf.
Thank you to all who contributed to our new School Vison: pupils, staff, parents and guradians, Governors and members of the wider Aberteifi community. This Vision will guide our development and progression over the next months and years.

Llongyfarchiadau i Jasmine!
Llongyfarchiadau mawr i Jasmine Bramhall Thomas, sydd wedi cael ei dewis i chwarae i Haverfordwest County AFC Women and Girls. Treuliodd Jasmine amser gyda’r clwb yn ystod ei chyfnod yn Ganolfan Datblygu Merched FAW gyda’r U16. Ar ôl cyfnod byr gyda thîm U19 Aberystwyth Town, mae hi bellach yn dychwelyd adref at y Bluebirds. Gan ei bod eisoes wedi bod yn rhan o’r clwb, mae Jasmine yn deall eu hegwyddorion a steil chwarae tîm Merched a Genethod Haverfordwest County, ac mae’r tîm yn hynod falch o’i chroesawu’n ôl i’r set‑up. Pob lwc, Jasmine. Rydyn ni i gyd yn falch iawn ohonot!
Congratulations to Jasmine!
Huge congratulations to Jasmine Bramhall Thomas, who has been selected to play for Haverfordwest County AFC Women and Girls. Jasmine previously spent time with the club during their FAW Girls’ Development Centre days with the U16s. After a short spell with Aberystwyth Town U19s, she now returns home to the Bluebirds. Having already been part of the club, Jasmine understands their philosophy and the Haverfordwest County Women and Girls style of play, and the team are thrilled to welcome her back into the setup. Best of luck, Jasmine. We are all very proud of you!
Da iawn i bawb! Diolch i Ysgolion Ceredigion / Well done to all! Thank you to Ceredigion Schools!

Adroddiad y Gêm: Gêm gyntaf o 2026 i dîm bechgyn dan 14 neithiwr bant yn Afan Nedd. Ar ôl dominyddu’r hanner cyntaf, roedd y gêm yn gyfartal gyda Cheredigion yn anlwcus ddim i fod ar y blaen. Dechreuodd Ceredigion yr ail hanner fel gorffennwyd yr hanner gyntaf, gyda chyd-chwarae da yn arwain at Iestyn Lewis yn rhoi pwysau ar y gôl-geidwad i daro’r bêl oddi wrtho ac i mewn i’r gôl. Dihunodd hyn Afan Nedd wrth iddynt gael cyfnodau o feddiant ac yn edrych yn beryglus. Yn y munudau olaf, casglodd Alfie Kellaway y bêl tua 25 metr arall a sgorio cracyr i sicrhau buddugoliaeth i’r tîm o’r gorllewin. Clod i bob aelod o’r garfan o 1-16 i sicrhau buddugoliaeth haeddiannol. Llongyfarchiadau i Jasper Bramhall Thomas, Rhodri Howell‑Williams a Riley Smith am gynrychioli eu hysgol.
Match Report: First game of 2026 for the under 14 boys last night away in Afan Nedd. After dominating the first half, the game was even with Ceredigion unlucky not to be ahead. Ceredigion started the second half as they finished the first half, with good play leading to Iestyn Lewis putting pressure on the goalkeeper to hit the ball towards him and into the goal. This stunned Afan Nedd into life as they had periods of possession and looked dangerous. In the final minutes, Alfie Kellaway collected the ball around 25 yards out and scored a cracker to secure victory for the team from the west. Credit to all members of the squad from 1-16 for securing a well deserved victory. Congratulations to Jasper Bramhall Thomas, Rhodri Howell-Williams and Riley Smith for representing their school.
Llongyfarchiadau mawr i Cerys Jenkins Shaw, a gynrychiolodd Ddyfed U17 nos Wener yn Elba Sports Ground, Abertawe. Dywedodd ei chlwb cartref: “Cyflawniad bendigedig ac adlewyrchiad gwych o’i gwaith caled, ei hymrwymiad a’i datblygiad. Mae pawb yn Clwb Hoci Emlyn yn hynod falch o weld ein chwaraewyr yn gwneud cynnydd ac yn perfformio ar lefel y sir.” Da iawn, Cerys, cyflawniad y galli fod yn wirioneddol falch ohono!
