Success Criteria:
Define metacognition and distinguish it from cognition and self-regulation.
Understand how metacognitive strategies improve pupil independence, resilience, and outcomes.
Identify the key components of metacognitive processes: planning, monitoring, and evaluating.
Recognise opportunities within their subject to explicitly model and scaffold metacognitive thinking.
Explore practical approaches to embedding metacognitive talk, prompts, and reflection in lessons.
Analyse how metacognition can support all learners, including those with lower prior attainment.
