Welcome to our class page. We are the Year 5 class at Cwmclydach Primary School. On this page you will find out lots of information about what we have been getting up to in and out of the classroom. We hope you enjoy.
Our class topic for Spring Term is Time Travellers; with a focus on the Victorian era. We have been reading and enjoying the book 'Street Child' by Berlie Doherty.
Here we have created freeze frames from a scene in the book thinking about the characters feelings and emotions. Aren't they great?
We have also researched lots about Queen Victoria and created fantastic pieces of work. Below are a selection of examples; please log into Seesaw to find the rest.
This term we have also been learning about electrical circuits. We have made simple circuits, written instructions and conducted and investigation to find out which materials were electrical insulators or conductors. We love using the science equipment.
This term we have been thrilled to begin swimming again. We have also had the opportunity to develop our rugby skills.
We've had an excellent week this week celebrating all things Welsh. We have been reading a lovely book by the author Jenny Sullivan called 'Gwyidion and the Magic Wand', we took part in a rugby session and were lucky enough to listen to a harpist too. We also learnt a new poem, how to sign the Welsh National anthem and how to speak about the weather in past tense.
We also celebrated World Book Day this week and were invited to dress up as our favourite book characters. We took part in a virtual lesson by Dwr Cymru and learnt lots about water and keeping our sewers as clean as possible. We were definitely Ethical Eves! In class we made bookmarks, comic strips about our perfect day and help a book taster sessions (with pancakes for a treat!).
We were also given World Book Day tokens that can be used in Tesco to get a free book (or £1 off another).
A fantastic and busy week that we all enjoyed :)
