During this stage you will identify what you’ll be initially aiming towards in terms of provision of numeracy experiences for learners. At this stage you will be starting to form your long term strategy.
To identify a baseline of experiences the school will provide where learners develop their numeracy skills
To create a clear plan for implementation
Define your Numeracy strategy; to include what you aspire to achieve.
Create a whole school numeracy action plan for implementation, identifying milestones / success indicators.
Agree the strategic plan with SLT
What are the non-negotiables to ensure consistent strategies and approaches across the school (e.g across different AOLE’s, continuity between mathematics and numeracy)
Will learners have enough opportunities to practice and develop their numeracy skills across AoLE’s, in a range of authentic, real-life contexts to an appropriate level of challenge?
Will there be opportunities for learners to apply and further develop the 5 mathematical proficiencies?
Are there any professional learning requirements that have been identified?
What will you see in 3 months / 6 months / 12 months / 18 months that will show you that you are progressing towards your goals?
Here you can find a resource that guides you through the process of forming your strategy, giving you ideas on how to structure your strategy and the sections you should include.
