1934 PAINTING 1

Prerequisite: C or higher in Drawing 1 (935) and Drawing 2 (936)

This course fulfills the MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.

This course is an introduction of the following painting materials of watercolor for transparent layer painting, acrylic paint for opaque painting and the use of oil paints for the combination of transparent glazing over opaque layers. Students will also be introduced to a variety of painting techniques in each medium.

1935 PAINTING 2

Grades 11, 12 * 1 Credit

Prerequisite: C or higher in Painting 1 (1934)

This course fulfills the MMC graduation requirement toward 1.0 credit in Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts.

This course will expand the student’s proficiency and independence in the use of watercolors, acrylic paint and oil paints, as well as the combination of these materials in developing paintings. Students are required to develop an overall theme to a group of five works for display or scholarship submission.
