Have you ever wanted to throw someone you are mad at out of the window - perhaps, starting a thirty year conflict? Are you interested in the weaponry and strategy of war? Have you ever thought about whether power should be transferred through bloodlines or battlefields? If you would like to go beyond the basic history class and dig deeper into the whys and hows of history, then consider taking Pre-IB World History. In this class we won’t just learn what the French Revolution was, but we will discuss the historical causes and how it impacted our governmental system here in the United States. Instead of just learning about the inventions of the Industrial Revolution, we will debate which advancement has had the greatest impact on modern civilization.
Think of this class as less of a history class and more of a thinking and writing class taught through the subject of world history. In order to be successful in this class, you will need to be organized and disciplined to get work done well and on time. This is a class where you will need to speak up and participate daily as you engage with your learning. Completing this course will help set the foundation for the skills you will need in your later years of high school and college. The Pre IB History and English courses are intended to be studied across disciplines and must be taken concurrently.
