Culture plays a significant role in creating both identity and community. Through culture we are able to connect to our roots and define ourselves in relation to them, thereby establishing a solid foundation of who we are and how to conduct ourselves in the world. Secure in tradition, we can more fully address the complexities of life. When culture is shared with others, it fosters community and solidarity, facilitating deeper interpersonal connections. For the Latino community, celebrating our cultures is essential to developing spaces where we feel comfortable and safe. Moreover, it is a crucial step in defining and claiming our place in the American tradition and way of life. (Narrative by Ari Herrera, Holy Cross ´23)
