The Covid-19 pandemic has brought a lot of light to the inequities marginalized groups in America face. With numbers of positive Covid-19 tests hitting all time highs in communities predominantly inhabited by black and brown folks, a huge step forward was taken by Worcester's Covid-19 Health Equity Task Force. The task force was established "To identify, reduce and eliminate racial health inequities or disparities to effectively address COVID-19 prevention and treatment in the Worcester, Massachusetts community, specifically communities of color, by collecting and providing analysis using valid race, ethnicity, language, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and social determinants of health data." After identifying these barriers this task force will introduce and implement action steps to continue to respond to the Covid-19 crisis and hopefully dismantle aspects of systemic inequality within communities of black and brown descent.
