G6-8 and K5

• The design will be based on the K5 + G6-8 model: 120 per grade, a total of 1,080 students. Each elementary and middle school will have a separate staffing.

  • Ph I: G6-8 360 Students => (DOE ) We need 600 or more students to support all electives.

  • Ph II: K5 720 Students (If ES enrollment projection is lower than anticipated, divide this to PhII 360 K5 + Ph III: 360 K5 Students)  => Start with minimum of 550 students

  • Additional rooms for Principals and Vice Principals.

  • Additional space for accommodating both K5 and G6-8 students in the cafeteria.

• The DOE may later choose to operate it as a K8 unified school.

How many school periods? : Design for 2 periods

• Elementary: Three - Kalihi ES (3~4)

• Middle: Six - Honouliuli MS (4~6)

• Check with the Office of Curriculum and Instructional Design

Lunch

• Three groups: K-2, 3-5, 6-8

• Full-service kitchen (also used during a disaster)

Pre-K

• Doug is in discussion with EOEL regarding hosting a pre-K hub.

• For now, do not count in a pre-K building within the school.

Staffing

• MS: Keelikolani MS; enrollment 375

• ES: Maemae ES; enrollment 662

  2. Student child-care activities conducted by non-profit organizations who have received tax exemption from the State department of taxation shall be classified as Type II use even if there is a charge.
