This week, we will dive into the Civil Rights Movement, focusing on Lesson 29 in TCI. Our goal is to understand how the fight for equality evolved over time and the impact it had on American society.
Monday: We will begin by examining how life for African Americans changed from the Civil War to the Civil Rights Movement, using Major League Baseball as a lens to see how sports reflected societal shifts.
Tuesday: Students will analyze three primary sources, determining when they were created and how they represent different stages of the Civil Rights Movement.
Wednesday: We will explore key Supreme Court cases related to civil rights and discuss the economic consequences of segregation.
Thursday: Our focus will shift to Supreme Court cases involving Affirmative Action and its role in modern society.
Friday: The week will conclude with a test. Students may use their Google Doc note sheets during the test.
Homework: Students should complete their notes by reading each section in the TCI textbook to prepare for the assessment.
