Summer School Collegiate Academy
Parents and Students,
Please find the link to the HEB ISD Summer School Website. A few important things to be aware of.
The ONLY credit advancement option open to Collegiate Academy students is for current Algebra students interested in possibly taking Advanced Geometry over the summer. The HEB ISD Math Coordinator has agreed to let any student with a 930 or higher TSI score take Advanced Geometry over the summer. If a student is not at a 930, they can still take it in the summer if they can get a 930 or higher on our retest dates May 15th and 22nd and then register.
It is very important for CA students not to sign up for any other credit advancement courses, as none of them will count for dual credit, which is required for their associate degree. It would be a waste of the student’s time and parents’ money for a student to take a course this summer for advancement and then have to take it again during the school year for dual credit.
If students would like something to do this summer, many of them can begin working on their foreign language requirement, if it is still needed for them, through Edgenuity, or they can work on Shmoop to prepare for their next round of TSI testing. These options are free and available to students 24/7.
There may be college options in future summers, but there is nothing your student needs to take this summer, unless you have heard something from me.
If your student ends up needing summer school for the End-of-Course exams or because they failed a class for the second semester, I will reach out personally to notify your family of summer requirements. I have included the notification timeline below. You will hear from me no later than the dates below, but possibly earlier.
EOC Failures - May 22nd
HEB and Dual Credit Course Failures - May 28th
EOC summer school is at no cost to families and transportation is provided, but Credit Recovery has a fee associated with it, and will be all online through Edgenuity.
For more information on fees and dates, please visit the HEB ISD Summer School Website. Again, the only people who would need to do anything right now are current Algebra student that meets the requirements to take Geometry over the summer. Registration opens May 1st, and spots are first come first serve.
If you have any questions, please let me know. As far as summer school is concerned, no news from me is good news!
Thank you,
Stacy Force
