Transition Work
This work is to be completed before starting your course. The work will be set on Taster Day and due in during the first full week of College. This work will be assessed alongside subject assessments and Attitude to Learning.
The A Level course expects you to have cultural and historical awareness of France and French speaking countries. Therefore, in order to develop your knowledge on these areas please complete the following:
Produce a list of French speaking countries and their capital cities; don’t forget what is known as DROM-COM. Where are these located in the world? What characterises them? Research 3 locations’ Francophone festivals and celebrations
Make a list of historical and political events & protagonists which have shaped France, since 1914- eg WW wars, De Gaulle, Pétain, Taubira, Work and Retirements laws, Le Pen, Macron
Choose and read an article every week from www.unjouruneactu.co.uk website and summarise it in English. https://www.newsinslowfrench.com/
Hand in knowledge of French-speaking world, mind maps, practice of tenses
