Transition Work
This work is to be completed before starting your course. The work will be set on Taster Day and due in during the first full week of College. This work will be assessed alongside subject assessments and Attitude to Learning.
Produce two A3 sustained observational detailed studies using non traditional media and processes, of manmade and organic natural objects. Make sure each study fills the paper and consider composition and viewpoint.
We are very specifically looking for work that shows risk taking and expressive application of the media you are using. We are not expecting detailed photo realistic drawings. We want to see that you have moved out of your comfort zone.
Organic natural object – Choose appropriate media to convey the surface qualities and form of the object.
Man-made object – Choose media and technique to show structure and line.
Materials that you could use;
Paint applied with cardboard
Collage
Tapes of different colours to show tonal values - electrical tape is good for this, also packing tape, gaffa tape, masking tape etc.
Coloured inks made from coffee, tea, blackberries etc
Be dynamic, ambitious and original in your choices. Ensure both studies are of your highest quality.
