Bridging the Gap
This work will not be submitted but will provide a good foundation of knowledge that will give you a positive start with your course.

You will all come with different knowledge, some of you will have done GCSE Media and therefore have academic knowledge, some of you will have done NCFE Interactive Media and will have good technical skills. Identify where your weaknesses are and use the following resources to ‘bridge the gap.’

Production Skills
Use the ‘Everyone Can Create Video’ resources provided by Apple.

The chapters for silent movies, creating a trailer and creating a movie pitch will provide you with excellent technical skills.
For those with good production skills, look at chapter 4 and consider making tutorials that your classmates could use. This is an excellent way of consolidating your knowledge.

Transition Work
This work is to be completed before starting your course. The work will be set on Taster Day and due in during the first full week of College. This work will be assessed alongside subject assessments and Attitude to Learning.

You need to engage with at least 5 different pieces of media during a 5-week period. Examples could be: a television programme, a film, a computer game, a social network site or a radio programme.
As you are a media student, there are certain expectations
about the things you should include. Write an entry on your blog for each of the pieces of media you have engaged with.
The format below gives you the bare minimum:
