A flash flood. "CAUTION: WATERS MAY BE-"
A flood is caused by an overflow of water, or other liquids. There are many types of floods. Naturally occurring types of floods are river flooding, groundwater flooding, coastal flooding, and urban flooding. Urban flooding is also known as Flash flooding. Flooding usually happens because of an overflow of water over a body of water, or breaking levees. Flooding also happens because of a gradual accumulation of rainwater. This type of flooding is known as Areal flooding. Flooding can damage buildings and other properties. It also can lead to other problems, like water borne and vector borne diseases.
Coincidental events may happen. Warm rain may cause snow to melt very fast, causing a flood. Strong flows of water have the ability to destroy structures, vehicles, and bridges. Flooding also causes immense damage, which in turn, wastes billions of dollars. Loss of life is also common, as floods are extremely dangerous. Harvests that took a very long time to make could be easily swept away in a flood. Prolonged time in a flood may kill many species of trees.
