Using Keva Planks. I created a city with a wall surrounding it, with two tall towers as the main attraction. I made this because I thought trying to make a tall tower would be challenging. The reason is one small bump and the whole tower falls, so we had to combine the structure strength whilst also trying to make it tall. I also made some smaller things like a dock, a small watch tower, some trees, and a fence around the outside. I did this to make the project feel more complete, and that we didn't spend all our time on one thing.

During this process, I learned how to use Keva Planks to make something cool, and unique. For example, I learned how to make a design that is super strong and can hold a tall tower on top of it. Another thing I learned is that Keve Planks are very fun to build with and that they can be very challenging to use. This is why Keva Planks is such a unique project to do.

The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project is tied to Innovative Designer. My project ties to this because we made something completely original out of Keva planks, and that nobody has made before.

A challenge I overcame on this project was the tower kept falling over when we tried to build higher. I was able to do it too by trying new designs that are more structurally sound. Another problem was the amount of Keva Planks there were. I was able to overcome this challenge by using fewer blocks on the less important stuff so that we had more blocks for the more important stuff.

Given a chance to do this again, I would change how big we made the support of the tower, and make it so it wasn't so big. The reason why I would change it is because it took away most of our blocks/ This made it so we couldn't make the tower taller because we didn't have enough Keva Planks. Another thing that I would change is how much time we spend on the smaller things. I would change this so that we could make the big tower taller, and better.

Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance,  and Marketing.  My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School.  My project connects to careers in Building Maintenance. They typically make around 15-21 an hour.
