Day-1 We finished the catapult for robot dash.
Day-2 Not here
Day-3 We finished the shape maker robot. And recorded the video
Day-4 We finished the word maker robot. We made it say ill
Day-5 We finished the disco bomb
Day-6- We went back through all our projects and fixed them.
Day-7 Planned project 5th and started.
Day-8 We finished our last project and started reflection.
Day-9 How to video.
Using the robots, Dash, Sphero mini, bolt, and the iRobot. I created something with each one. Dash, I made dash catapult a Lego tire across the room. Mini, I made the mini robot run around in shapes such as square, triangle, and rectangle. Bolt, I made it flash LED, jump, and roll around. And using the last robot I made it draw the world ill. I also made a 5th one where dash ran through a wall and celebrated. I did the first 3 because that is what was required for a 100 percent. And for the fourth project Bolt I wanted to do that, because I thought it was something unique that I haven't seen before. The 5th project was to make something unique that nobody else has made, and I would get 10 percent more.
During this process, I learned how to code robots to do very difficult tasks such as jumping for the sphere mini. I also learned how to make Dash dance, and say stuff. Plus, I learned how to make a robot spell, and I thought that wasn't possible. I also learned that coding isn't really that hard it's basically just trial and error.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor because I went into the project knowing nothing about how to code these robots. Then, I looked up how to and what to use to code the robots. Plus, I wasn't that good at coding before this project, and know i'm much better.
A challenge I overcame on this project was not being able to sign into Sphero Edu. This was the app to code two of the 4 robots. I was able to do it by trying to log in everyday until it finally let us into the app. If we didn't keep trying we wouldn't get anything done.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the difficulty of our 5 projects. The reason why I would change it is because I do admit our 5th project is very cool. But our 5th project didn't take much effort. Doing this would make me know more about coding dash. I would also change the amount of time we wasted fixing our videos.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in robotic engineering. The pay off these jobs are really good at 99 thousand per year.
