Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working by myself for this project.
What materials will you need for your project?
For this project I will need a micro-bit plus anything to make the micro-bit flash what I want it too, so batteries
What is your plan to create in this project?
For this project I to make the micro-bit to flash my name, then I plan to make the step counter
What unique qualities will your project have? I'm going to make a step counter that only counts when your feet move not your hands.
Day -1 I did my planning questions and my list of 10 good ideas.
Day-2 I started to code on my micro bit and finish my code for my name.
Day-3 I made the second micro-bit thing and I made it say " How's Your Day Going?"
Day-4 On day 4 I made my micro bit make a shape appear when I press the button "A" and disappear when I press the button "B"
Day-5 I messed around with my micro bit and didn't finalized anything
Day-6 I made a rock paper scissors shoot cheat that you can choose what your want.
Day-7 On the last day of this project I wrote my reflect and publish the link into google classroom and turned it in.
Using micro bit.com and a micro bit, I made the micro bit flash my name across the screen. I also made it ask a question " How it your day Going." I also made a rock, paper, scissors so you can cheat against your friend. Because I wanted to make something that people haven't made or I think they haven't to make my project unique. This was also my first time using anything that includes coding.
During this process, I learned that using a micro bit can be really challenging. It took me a long time to get the micro bit connected to the computer. Plus, making something that is unique and cool can make your mind think a lot. And making more than just one thing on the micro bit.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor, because went into this project knowing nothing about coding with a micro bit. Then, I used the stuff online that other people had made and how they did it to make my own unique stuff with my micro bit. My project also ties to Global Collaborator, because I share my stuff with people all over the world, and I got my ideas from people that just aren't from the people in the classroom.
A challenge I overcame on this project was that my micro bit wouldn't turn on. So I couldn't do any of the work on the micro bit. I was able to do it by actually connecting the device to the computer and downloaded the code to it. So that I could actually do the work on the micro bit.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the amount I did. I would like to do less of the easier stuff and do 1 or 2 of the harder stuff that take more time. The reason why I would change it is because I want to challenge myself more than just doing something that I could already do. I think that that would show that I can do more than what I thought I could do.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in being a Software Developer in Grand Rapids, MI. The pay of these types of jobs can ranged from 52-160 thousands dollars a year. Which is really good for this type of job.
