Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I will be working alone
What materials will you need for your project?
I will need the Cospaces
What is your plan to create in this project?
I will follow others' ideas and make my own story or world.
What unique qualities will your project have?
My project will have different programming to make the story more interesting.
I began making up ideas for what I wanted and created my website.
I started looking at tutorials on how to start my world. I then began my own. I decided to make an Egyptian world.
I scrapped my origninal design. Instead, I did a time story. I added multiple elements that were a big part in history.
I added coding, created the speech, and finished up my world. I made a full, short story.
I started my reflection and filmed the video to showcase my project.
Using Cospaces, I created a story because I felt that last year I hardly explored how to use Cospcaces. This time, I decided to use code and other speech elements. I chose to create a story that was based on time. I added the colloseum, a pyramid, and many other elements that most people recognize from our world's history. I originally just had an Egyptian world. However, I felt the story didn't feel right.
During this process, I learned how to use coding blocks to make a code for a story. The coding made a lot more interesting story, while not needing a lot of extra visual things. Instead, I used commands like clicking for certain actions to make the story more immersive. For example, I made it so when you click on the final key the story ends. I also made it so that when you click on the doctors they say something. I also did this with the witch. I also coded different colors for my characters.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor because I previously had no clue how to code using blocks. For the first time, I didn't watch any tutorials to give me a guideline.
A challenge I overcame on this project was creating a solid story. I was able to do it by adding new props and coding. I added speech to make it seem more clear what was going on. I added multiple characters to add more of a plot. The witch added mystery. The doctors made it seem more real. I added props and characters that didn't add anything, but they made it feel more like a story.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change how large and complicated my story was. The reason why I would change it is because I couldn't get the full story through. Instead, I had to make shortcuts because I didn't have enough room. I still got the point through. However, it just didn't feel full. If I had more time, I would add more scenes and worlds to finish the story.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to Computer Programming the CTE program at Hastings High School. I made code using coding blocks, which is direct correlation to this program. This added more to my story. My project connects to careers in programming skills. I used a simpler version, called coding blocks. However, if I were to go deeper in this process, I could eventually use code to make games and other things.
