Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I will be working by myself
What materials will you need for your project?
I will need the 3d printer, TinkerCad, and the filament.
What is your plan to create in this project?
I will make multiple designs to make the perfect figure. This figure will solve my problem.
What unique qualities will your project have?
My project will have multiple parts that all work together towards holding the wand in place.
Daily Log
Day 1. Created list of ten, looked at other kids' work, and experimented with TinkerCad. I also thought of what problem I wanted to solve. My problem was to make it so I wouldn't have to dig through the dishes to find my soap wand. I made a holder to put it in a safe place.
Day 2- I messed with a couple more tools. I messed with filling in areas and making shapes to carve out specific shapes.
Day 3- I made a third design for my issue. At first, I had cylinders. In the end, I used pyramids to fit different sized wands. I later scrapped the pyramid design.
I made different sized cones to fit different wands.
Day 4- I spent almost my entire time updating my google sites. However, I made a somewhat decent design. It's the most simple design. In the end, I decided to get rid of the large platform and shrink it down.
Day 5- I spent more time fixing my google site. We also had a collaboration space meeting. I changed how the stabilizer looked. It took me so long because I struggled to get the position right.
Day 6- I did my reflection and worked on updating my google site. At the end of the hour, I did some typing practice.
Using TinkcerCad and a 3D printer, I created a soap wand holder because the soap wand always gets lost in my sink. When it comes to cleaning the dishes, whoever does the dishes has to dig through the gross dishes. No one wants to do that. There's a lot of mushy food in there. This way, the wand can sit in a safe place.
During this process, I learned how to make complicated shapes to work towards a goal. This goal was to make a safe place for the wand. I used cubes, pyramids, prisms, and spheres. I used these shapes to make a solid structure.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor because I had very little experience with TinkerCad. Through lots of learning, I made a complicated figure. There are multiple shapes put together to make a awesome looking figure.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the measurments right. I was able to do it by using the text boxes instead of moving my mouse. When moving the mouse, you can't get the specific details. Because of this, it's more blocky and less detailed Given a chance to do this again, I would change where my shapes were located. The reason why I would change it is because I was struggling to center the shapes. Because of this, the whole figure didn't look as professional. I would like it to be more crisp and detailed.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. This is because I engineered a design to fix an important issue. My project connects to careers in LevelEx. You will be 3D printing assets, anatomical designs, and surgical tools. You will be making multiple models for different needs in businesses.
