Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
on a team with Thomas
What materials will you need for your project?
makey makey, and my computer, and some play-doh
What is your plan to create in this project?
we are going to test stuff and see what is conductive
What unique qualities will your project have?
We are doing the research our selves
day 1
I tested some things on cookie clicker.
day 2
me and Thomas got some things with play-doh to work
day 3
I made a controller for an even more complex game.
day 4
I made my video
I did planning questions
Using play-doh, my computer, and my makey makey, I created a controller for some computer games starting with cookie clicker because it was the easiest. Next, I made the controls for a 2d soccer game where I had to make 3 controls instead of just 1 which was click. Last, I made a controller for a game with 5 controls which was much harder because I had to use eye pokers and the whole thing was much harder
During this process, I learned how conductivity works and how to use the makey makey. something that helped me learn was when me and Thomas did a thing were I touched his arm and touched the makey makey, and he did the controls like w, a, s, and d which worked but was hard. I also learned that you can wear aluminum or play-doh and connect it wo earth and you can just use the controls.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to empowered learner because I learned and did everything that I could with only me and Thomas.
A challenge I overcame on this project was not knowing how to use the Makey Makey. I was able to do it by testing and finding that you need to be connected to earth / a thing that is o the Makey Makey. I later did this better by making an aluminum finger and wearing it to be able to touch the controls to use them because earlier I had to touch earth which was hard and a problem.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change bringing a banana and using it or the project. The reason why I would change it is because the project would be better in my opinion if I had the chance to play a game on a banana, it would also be better as a whole because it is another thing to to take a picture. Also it would have been fun
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in Engineering Design because I made a controller just using play-doh and the makey makey.
