Daily Log

• Using Tinkercad, a 3D Printer, and a computer, I created a new pencil holder. I created this because my previous pencil holder was a fail. Unlike this new one, it had no bottom.

• During this process, I learned that after creating something once, doing it again is much easier. The first time I did this, I had no clue what I was doing. Now, if I focused, I could do this in a few hours.

• The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because I set a goal and achieved it. My project also ties to Knowledge constructor because I found tutorials online to help this process.

• A challenge I overcame on this project was not knowing how to get the size of the model to millimeters and not inches. I was able to do it by watching tutorials. I also asked my friends for help.

• Given a chance to do this again, I would change the amount of filament I used. The reason why I would change it is because the bottom of the pencil holder was about an inch of straight filament. I also would change the weird slits in the pencil holder.

• Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing.  My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School.  My project connects to careers in Additive Manufacturing Engineering Technician - 3D Printing.
