Planning Questions:
I am working with Abbie
We will need the iPad, Embroidery machine and iMovie
Our plan is to video record us doing thins with the machine, like threading the needle and doing a voice over explaining what we are doing.
Our project is unique because nobody else can really do a tutorial video on the embroidery machine.
Using iMovie and our experience with working with the embroidery machine, Abbie and I made a tutorial video describing how the machine works and how to use it for other students that want to use the machine. We made this video so other students that need help with the machine can just go and watch the videos for guidance. Then, they don't have to figure it out on their own like we did or have to bother Mr. Renner for help.
During this process, I learned how to create a tutorial video. I learned how to voice over our video on the iMovie app. I also figured out how to get good enough angles for our video.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Creative Communicator. Our project ties to this because we made a video for other people to show them and teach them how to use the machine if they need help or have any issues with it.
A challenge we overcame in this project was trying to get the right angles. Some of the time we couldn't get the right angles so you could see what I was doing while I was threading the needle. Some of the time my hand was in the way and you couldn't see. We overcame this problem by either changing angles of the camera or where my hand placement was.
Given a chance to do this project again I would change how many things we showed to do in the tutorial. I would try and include some more things about the machine and how to do other things in it and go into a deeper explaining of the machine. The reason I would change this is that I just feel like we didn't give enough explaining and detail about the machine in the video.
