8 P5 - Embroidery

Using the Embroidery machine, Abbie and made baby burp cloths. We made these burp cloths because we have new babies coming into the family so we wanted to do something nice for them and make custom cloths for the babies. We made one for my baby cousin Oaklyn.

During this process, I learned how to thread the needle for the machine. I also learned how to work the options and pick the designs we were using for our cloths. When threading the needle there were steps that we needed to do in order for the machine to work.

The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to innovative designer. It ties to this because every time we had an issue with our design we had to retry and change things up. There were many times that we had to change designs and re-thread the needle.

A challenge I overcame on this project was when the thread kept breaking. I was able to fix this problem by figuring out how to thread the needle. We also had issues with switching thread colors.

Given a chance to do this again, I would change how many designs we did. The reason I would change this because we didn't do that many designs. We spent most of the time figuring out how to use the machine rather than doing our designs.

Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the engineering design at CTE program at Hasting High School because we had to use the machine to program and have it do the designs. My project connects into careers in clothing design and doing custom designs on clothing.
