Reflection
Using a iPad, a computer, a Adafruit, and Circuit playground express, I created a music player, a device that when a certain button is pressed, it then plays the music I created, because I wanted to see if I could make music. To also see what I could do with coding. Finally to see if I could somewhat play the piano.
During this process, I learned more about how to code properly on a computer. How to play the piano with a somewhat beginner style learning. Finally I learned how to create music that is actually appealing to listen to for an audience.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Computational Thinker because I made music using a digital piano. I made the code that was assembled to create that music. Finally I then made the code repeat for eight times, but for the video I did make it repeat fifteen times.
A challenge I overcame on this project was making the code that would then become music. I was able to do it by making each note at a time. I then created the light code that I made repeat and then I assembled the colors needed. I finally made the music code have an ending note and then made the music rest for four beats so that the music doesn't repeat.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the duration of my music. The reason why I would change it, is because the music was too short. The music didn't sound great being only nine beats. Finally the music wasn't exactly how I wanted it to be with the duration it sounded weird.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. As I was able to program code on a computer, send code to another device, and to extend code.
My project connects to careers in Music Programming because I created my own music using coding. I then made repeats so it could be longer and sound good using coding. Finally I created an ending beat using coding.
