Day 1: We created another subpage called cardboard creations. We got into our cardboard creation groups and started to plan what we are going to make.
Day 2: We created our planning sheet.
Day 3: We got to work more on our project, and we got to go over what we got on our projects.
Day 4: We got to work more on our project, and attached the back wings.
Day 5: We continued gluing the wings
Day 6: We put the airplane engines on the wings. We started to color our airplane.
Day 7: We finished coloring or cardboard creations and we put wheels on our airplane to finish our cardboard creation.
This is my Cardboard Creations video:
This is my reflection:
Using cardboard, cardboard scissors, hot glue, and using coloring supplies, I created a cardboard airplane because I thought it would be cool and challenging for myself.
During this process, I learned how to use a hot glue gun, work with cardboard, and put all of the pieces together. I also learned how to work with partners better during this process and learn to think ahead for the other add-ons for this project. Finally, I also learned how hard it is to make a cardboard creation which is my cardboard airplane.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to a Innovated designer because we used simple materials to use. As the process went on, I asked a lot of questions of how to put the pieces together and how do we start putting coloring on it. I also brainstormed tons of ideas as the my project days went on to make our cardboard airplane.
A challenge I overcame on this project was finding the right pieces of cardboard to make an cardboard airplane. Secondly, I also came over a challenge by creating a good quality video. Another challenge I overcame was not being able to focus on our project. I was able to do it by focusing really hard on this project and ask people if we can use there scrap pieces of cardboard to finish off our cardboard creation. To make our video we had to find a good spot in the classroom to make our video where it is not crowded in that one space.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the way the my video is designed. I would also change the way I organized the 7p2 page on my website. The reason why I would change it is because I want to get a good grade in this class and a really good grade on this project. Finally, the reason I would change it is because I want others to see how a good website can be and help others how I created my cardboard creation.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in Engineering Design because I like to create stuff and be creative on that one project. As I was working on my project with my partner, we decided to make challenges for ourselves so we can try to complete those challenges. Engineering Design people have to identify complex problems and my partner and I identified many problems as our project days went on. Engineering Design people focus on the elements for that one part of the project and as we created our project we focused on that one part until we finished that one part of the project. Before the project, my partner and I had to create a design for our cardboard airplane.
