Reflection
Using a computer and Tinkercad, I created a mini basket ball hoop with a ball because I thought it could be a fun little game to play especially with friends. First what I did was thought of what 3d print design I wanted to do. Second I went on Tinkercad and started designing a backboard and the hoop, and everything else that a basketball hoop has, even the ball. Lastly I made sure to update my website every step of the way, and I made sure to get the correct measurements on the 3d print. It was a fun and creative project and I enjoy creating 3d prints.
During this process, I learned how to make a 3d printed basketball hoop. At first I didn't know if I should do this project because I didn't know where to start. But I then looked up tutorials on how to make a basketball hoop. It was pretty hard to follow along with the videos since I couldn't really understand what they were doing. Eventually I finished my basketball hoop and it was overall a pretty goo experience, and now I know how to make a 3d printed basketball hoop!
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Digital Citizen because I was using the internet and technology safely and responsibly. I used Tinkercad, which is on a computer, and I designed an appropriate 3d design. I used my skills and knowledge to collab with the technology I have to create a fun learning experience.
A challenge I overcame on this project was being gone for 3 days in a row. The reason why this was a challenge was because we have limited time on this project and being gone for 3 days really uses up a lot of my times. Although, I was able to get past this project by having my project due a little bit later, but working on it at home and using the rest of my time wisely. This is a little lesson that can be used in real world situations and this teaches most students to use your time wisely and work hard no matter what happened.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change to make something different that isn't a 3d print. The reason why I would change it is because I 3d print a lot of things and I wish I could have made something different, I do like 3d printing, I just think its getting not so much fun as it used to be since I am doing it so much. Or maybe it could just be the fact that I deicide to make a a basketball hoop? I not sure, thought if I did decide to 3d print again, I would try and make something more useful.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project ties to the Digital Multimedia CTE program at the High School. Firstly because I was working with technology to create and design my project. Using Tinkercad, I created a mini basketball hoop with using the tools and blocks Tinkercad provides. Sometimes I even created my own blocks. For instance when I was creating the hoop part, they didn't have a hoop with a whole in it. So I had to use my knowledge and grab the circular shape and shape it into the shape of a hoop. I then grabbed the shape that says "Hole" and inserted it into the circular shape I mentioned earlier so that I could make a circle with a hole in the middle to represent a hoop that is on a basketball hoop.
My project connects to careers in Kinetic Sculpture. Kinetic Sculpture uses tools like Tinkercad Code blocks to create an animation or a design with moving parts, which can be part of a physical or digital kinetic sculpture project. The design principles here involve motion, form, and potentially sound or light. This connect to my project because I used Tinkercad to create a digital project that can involve with motion and sound.
