code a clock on the microbit
Daily Log
day 1 cut up the cardboard
day 2 we duct taped it together and cut up the middle piece into sections
day 3 the duct tape was just gone so we reductaped it then we pulled yarn through the different platforms so that we can move them
day 4 the back we taped on fell off s we put it back on with screws and we put on another pice of the back that they were missing
day 5 we filmed the video and had the robots fight. we tried to use the moving platforms but they didn't really work and everything fell off it.
day 6 edited video and did website
Project Description
To make my project I used cardboard, cardboard screws, duct tape, and yarn. Using these things I created a robot fighting arena. We build this because I wanted to do something with the robots and I also wanted to make something with cardboard but I have something else for the last project and doing a robot fighting arena let me do something with the robots and cardboard.
During this process, I learned how to connect pieces of cardboard together so that they will stay. At first, we tried to just duct tape it together but it wasn't holding up after we left class so someone tried to staple them together but that did absolutely nothing. So we eventually figured out that a good way to get cardboard pieces to hold together was to use cardboard screws and a little bit of duct tape too.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer. It ties to this because we made the arena from scratch and when we had problems in the design we figured out how to fix them.
A challenge I overcame on this project was my group not agreeing on what the design should be. We were able to do it by talking and planning out how things would work. We ended up compromising and being able to go forward with the plan we made.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the way we did the platforms. The reason why I would change it is because they didn't really work. Some group members wanted to have 4 platforms so we did that but they were too small to be stable enough for the robots to go in between the platforms so we ended up being unable to use them. So i think if we did just two platforms t would have worked better.
