Using the micro bit, a coding website called https://makecode.microbit.org/ , batteries, and a cord. I created two coded projects on the micro bit. One is my name scrolling across the screen. The other is an animation of a dot character falling. I did these because they sounded like fun ideas and the worked for the project .
During this process, I learned a lot. One of the things I learned is how to code better. Another is how to use micro bit which before hand I had no clue how to use.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Creative Communicator. It ties to this because this project is documented on my website which anyone in the world can see.
A challenge I overcame on this project was me being out of school for a week of the project. I was able to do it by staying very focused during the time that I was at school. Another thing that aloud me to overcome this challenge is that I did the things that I could do virtually, like coding, at home.
Given a chance to do this again, I would improve the quality of my projects. Because I was out sick for a week I didn't get to spend as much time to work with the micro bits. The reason why I would change it is because I was in a little bit of a rush and so I feel as if I didn't produce my best work.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. It connects to this because I used programing in my project. My project connects to careers in a lot of different fields including, computer systems engineer, computer programmer, and database administrator.
