Project Description
Using the sewing machine, fabric, pins, and thread, I made a shirt. I made this because I wanted to increase my sewing skills. I also wanted to make something I could actually use.
During this process, I learned how you need to cut and line up fabric to sew it properly. I also learned how to make a
t-shirt. I learned these things by both research and trail and error.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer. It ties to this because I created a plan to make the t-shirt, used the design thinking method to do it and, I didn't give up when I faced problems.
A challenge I overcame on this project came when I was sewing on the collar. When I tried to sew on the color I accidently sewed it on the wrong side of the t-shirt. I was able to fix it by using the seen riper to undo the stitching that had attached it to the wrong side of the shirt. then after I unattached it I resewed it onto the correct side of the shirt.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the way the collar looks. The reason why I would change it is because the fabric I had was too small, so the other piece of the shirt rippled. I did a test piece and it didn't ripple but it did end up rippling. I don't know if I hate the ruffle or no but I would have preferred it without.
