Using tinker cad and a 3d printer, I created a pencils holder. The pencil holder is made specifically to attach to my binder. I made this because I would always loose my pencils because there was no where to put them.
During this process, I learned how to build a 3d model. I learned this through the videos on tinker cad. I also learned a lot through trial and error.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor,. It ties to this because I used digital tools to help me solve a problem that will help me learn better.
A challenge I overcame on this project was the fact that I didn't know how to size thing in tinker cad. I was able to do it by asking others for help. To solve this problem there was a lot of time spent messing around with the grid until I figured it out.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change a couple of things. One being the size of the wholes. I would change this because if I made them just a little smaller the pencils would probably fit better. The other thing I would change is how I added the little moss patches. I would change this because when they were printed one of them was hanging off a little and I think it just made the project look worse.
