8P8 - Stop Motion

During this project I used many resources. Those resources were Legos, a computer, an iPad, iMovie, and Google. With these resources my partners and I created a short stop motion video on our character who got cyber bullied. We created this because we wanted to show how cyber bullying can affect someone negatively and how it changes one's life.

Throughout this process, I have learned how to do many different things. One of those things I learned was ow to make trees out of the Legos. Another thing I learned was how to make scenes come together in a fluid way. Lastly, I learned how to make detailed Lego designs and build them.

There are 7 standards of the class. Those standards are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project can connect to many of these standards but the standard my project ties to the most is Digital Citizen. This is because my project is showing how you can handle being bullied on the internet in a safe and efficient way.

During this project, I faced many different challenges. One challenge that I had to handle was figuring out how to make the scenes tie together fluidly. I was able to overcome this challenge by connection the areas of the scenes and having our character travel from scene to scene. Another challenge that I had to overcome was making a tree out of Legos. I overcame this challenge by starting with random brown Lego pieces as well as using real life trees as a reference. Then I added the leaves and some grass around the trunk of the Lego tree.

If I was provided a chance to do this project again, I would change many things. One of the first things I would change is the characters we used, this is because two of the characters that we had used look very similar but we couldn't find another character so we had to go with the three we used. Another thing from this project that I would change is how the house looked. The reason I would change the way the house looked is because we had ran out of the colors we were going to use, which made us have to change from different shades of gray to only black, then finally only white on the very top of the house. 

Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers lots of different CTE programs. Those programs include Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project is connected to many of these CTE programs. The CTE program that this project ties into the most is the Digital Multimedia CTE program. My project is connected to this CTE program because I used different forms of digital media like using pictures and iMovie to create the stop motion. 

My project connects to careers in stop-motion animator for many reasons. One reason is that both stop-motion animators and my project use stop motion to create videos. Another reason is that both use sound effect, voice overs and transitions to make the stop-motion video a lot smoother. The final reason that my project ties to careers in stop-motion animators is that both animators and my project use Legos to create the animation videos.
