Are you working by yourself or in a team?
In a team with Maritza and Aylee.
What materials will you need for your project?
Cardboard, tape, markers, glue, and a computer.
What is your plan to create in this project?
My plan is to create a fish tank that has cardboard fish and rocks.
What unique qualities will your project have?
Some unique qualities my project will have is that it will have like decor for fish tanks and fish made out of cardboard using hot glue, duck tape and colored paper.
We decided on what to make for our project. Then we found some good pieces of cardboard to use. I listed my ten good ideas, worked on my planning questions, and set up the page on my website.
We got more cardboard for our project. We started by measuring and cutting the walls and tops of the fish tank. Then I glued some parts of the first fish together. Finally, we figured out what decor we will have in the fish tank and who will get certain supplies. for the project.Figured out decorations we will try to make during this project
Started off the day with making a few more fish. Then we glued some more parts of the project together. Lastly, we worked on making other sea animals for the fish tank.
Finished making the fish tank by gluing the walls, floor and top together then duck taping the outside to keep it sturdy. We discussed where everything would go inside of the fish tank and put some fish inside to see how they would look in certain spots.
Aylee made parts of a starfish and glued some of them together while I worked on another fish with Marizta. While we were working we figured out some of the colors in the fish tank that we would need.
I cut the paper and glued into the box. Maritza tested the markers while Aylee worked on gluing the rocks and some fake moss in the tank. I also made another fish for the tank.
I glued more moss and rocks down to the floor of the tank. I glued the fish to the wall. Added black paper to the outside of the box.
I added more black paper on the outside of the fish tank. I glued some fish to the ceiling using string. Maritza painted rocks and glued googly eyes onto them. I decorated the bottom a little bit more.
I made a stack of rocks and glued it to the ground. Glued another paper fish to the ceiling. Took pictures and made the video of our project. I finished up my website page on this project.
By using cardboard, fake moss, rocks, string, construction paper, poster board, paint, markers, scissors, duck tape, and hot glue. I was able to create a fish tank that would hold animals from the oceans, seas, or lakes with those materials. I created a fish tank that holds aquatic animals because I wanted to display something that represents aquatic animals.
During this project I learned how to do many things. I learned how to make aquatic animals out of cardboard and paper fish by using tutorials I found online using Google that told me the step by step instructions on how to make the fish. I also learned how to decorate by just messing around a bit at first then once I was happy I would glue it down so it would stay and work from there.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. Out of the 7 different standards my project ties to the Creative Communicator standard because I chose the appropriate tools for my project and I created an original work with this project. The tools I picked were appropriate
There was a lot of challenges that I have to overcome on this project. One challenge I overcame during this project was the amount of fish and sharks I could make out of cardboard. I was able to overcome that challenge by making most of the cardboard fish at home using my own supplies with a lot more time. I made fish at home by using hot glue and sculpting fish with the hot glue, using heat to melt the glue into the correct shape.
If I was given another chance to do this project again I would change the walls inside of the fish tank. I would change the walls of the tank for many different reasons. One reason I would change this is because there wasn't a lot of detail on the walls compared to the floor. Another reason I would change the walls is because the paper wasn't big enough to fit entirely so we had to use cut up pieces of other paper of the same color, which made the walls look kind of rough compared to the floor that looked a lot smoother.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in prop building because prop builders often use cardboard for props and they use lots of materials to create interesting objects to display.
