Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I will be working by myself for this project.
What materials will you need for your project?
A robot, iPad, Google, and computer.
What is your plan to create in this project?
My plan is to have the robot move around objects in the room.
What unique qualities will your project have?
My project will be my own idea, and it will use my own techniques.
I made the page on my website. I set up the page. I listed my ten good ideas. Then, I looked at ideas on what to make for this project. Last, I answered part of my planning questions.
I looked for more ideas of what to do with the robots. Next, I decided on what to make with my robot. Lastly, I found the options for the robots.
First, I worked with the code a little bit more. Second, I picked out what robot to use. Third, I tried the different coding options for the robot.
I worked with coding the robot more. I got started on thinking on how I was gonna make it move around objects in the room. I took some pictures of the robot.
I finished the project. I recorded the video of my final project. I made the video in iMovie. I added transitions, sound effects and music to the video. I added some text to the videos and pictures in iMovie. I did my reflections and finished my website.
Resources I used during this project are Google, Sphero mini, iMovie, iPad, Sphero Play, and a computer. With these resources I was able to program and create a robot that goes over obstacles. I made this for my project because I wanted to see how the robot would function with challenges such as ramps. I also wanted to see how the coding functions with the robots and obstacles in its path.
Throughout the process of this project I learned many new things. First, I learned how to use the app that allows you to code the robot. Another thing I learned from this project is how to work with many different ways of coding with the robot. Ways of coding I learned include, the joystick, blocks, and the games.
There are 7 standards of the class. Those 7 standards are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project is connected to the Innovative Designed class standard for many reasons. One reason is that I used a process so I was able to test the codes I had made with the robot. Another reason is that I selected the right resources for this project, resources like; Google, iPad, iMovie, computer, Sphero mini, Sphero Play. Lastly, I also used those tools to plan the design process and manage the design process as well.
There were many challenges I faced during this project. One of the first challenges I faced was figuring out what app I was supposed to use. I was able to overcome this challenge by looking at other websites and asking my friends for help. Another challenge that I faced during this project is that I wasn't able to take any pictures or videos while using the robots because it would disconnect. I overcame this challenge by taking pictures when the robot was disconnected and by asking and having my friends take pictures and videos or the robot being used for me on their iPads. The last challenge i faced was taking pictures of the code. I got through this challenge by looking up how to screenshot and asking other people in my class for help.
If I was given a change to redo this project there are a few different things I would change. The thing I would change the most is how much stuff I actually did with the robot. I would change how much I did with the robot because I was beginning to run out of time and wanted to make sure I would complete this project before the due date. I also didn't have a lot of the actual project done until close to the end of the project. I just would've gotten some more videos and pictures of the robot to put into a video for my robot.
At the Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program, they offer many different programs. The programs offered at the Hastings High School CTE program includes, Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project ties into the Computer Programming CTE program offered at the Hastings High School. My project connects to this CTE program because in the computer programming CTE program you program things digitally. I programmed in different ways to make the robots to do certian activites.
My project is connected to many different careers in the job field. One career path I chose that connects the most with my project is Robotics Engineer. This connects to my project because Robotics Engineers design and program robots to do certain activities. They also test their codes that they created for the robots. During this project I designed and programed the robot to certain activities such as move around and move over obstacles. I also tested my codes I created for the robot to make sure they were working correctly.
