For this project I will be working alone. My materials needed will be the 3-D printer and tinkercad. I plan to create SpongeBob's upper body. Some unique qualities that my project will have is holes.
Using, Tikercad, I created a waist up model of SpongeBob Square Pants. I made this design to go on the shelf in my movie room as decoration. I plan to make this object pink to math other decorations.
During this process, I learned how to create holes in the different materials. I also learned that the best way to print certain objects is by laying it on their back. This helps so that there isn't a strange line of filament on the side that isn't supposed to be there.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Global Collaborator because there was much discussion with peers and mentors about the best way to print as well as the best way to design.
An Issue or challenge that I overcame during this project was trying to find how to create the divots inside of SpongBob to make him look as realistic as possible. After much trial and error as well as help from others I was eventually able to figure out how to create the divots in his body.
Given a chance to do this project again I would like to attempt making different features their rightful colors and well and find a way to create legs stable enough for him to use to stand up on. I feel that these would improve my project greatly from many different aspects.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My Project connects to Digital Multimedia because I had to use a specific site to create my item and then use another machine to actually print the item out. A career that my project conects to is a digital entrepreneur or consultant.
