In this image it shows the coding used to get the robot through the maze.
This video shows the sphero mini going in a rectangle.
This image shows the shape that we wanted to create with the sphero mini.
Using Sphero Edu I made a code to have a Sphero Bolt find it's way through the maze, I also coded a . I did this to try and test my problem-solving skills as well as use my skills to handle the frustration which was quite testing through this process. After about two days of constant work and testing my partner and I finally got it to go in and out the maze correctly.
During this process I learned how to correctly operate Sphero Edu. Though coding is not always my strong suit I took time to learn, and excel to get the robot through the maze. I tried many different angles, speeds, and distances none of which before this project was I aware were variables.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because though the project was difficult to get through, I still managed to overcome the frustration, and time restraints to get the Sphero through the maze the correct way.
A challenge I overcame this project was the simple specificity of it all. In the rectangle that we had to create the biggest difficulty was trying to get it in the same spot every time in order to be sure that it would end up making the correct shape. For the maze we had to make sure that we again, put it in the same spot every time, and that we used correct aiming, angles, as well as speed.
Given a chance to do this project again I would try to mark a spot in both parts of the project. The reason why I would change this is because when testing something the end result will change and it can make it more difficult to get the right coding. I really think that if we had marked the starting spot that we would've been able to get the coding much quicker.
This project connects to careers in underwater excavating due to having to find the correct pattern of code for the robot to get to the correct spot. This job deals with many large robots and attachments to them.
